A burglar was caught after a household returned from trip to Newcastle, England, to search out him asleep on their sofa, a report says.

Whereas Christopher West, 38, didn’t steal something, he had helped himself to meals and alcohol and had been smoking in the home, British outlet ITV reported.

When the household returned from their trip in October, the kid noticed a blue  cigarette lighter on the bottom of their property, which did not belong to them.

The girl of the household then peeked by the lounge window and noticed West asleep on the couch, prosecutor Joe Hedworth mentioned, per ITV.

The male member of the household then entered the home, forcibly woke him up, and kicked him out.

When requested how he had entered the property, he claimed a Chinese language lady had given him entry.

The ladies of the home mentioned that the housebreaking had affected the kid’s psychological state, ITV reported.

“I now have the sensation our protected place is no longer protected. We work arduous for what we have got, and to have somebody intrude in our house is terrifying,” she mentioned.

West was arrested, pleaded responsible to housebreaking, and sentenced to twenty months suspended for 2 years, based on the report, together with a nine-month alcohol therapy requirement and rehabilitation.

The Newcastle court docket heard that alcohol had “ravaged” West’s life and that he’s “remorseful” and “mortified” by his habits, per ITV.
