Introducing: Stupid Weather – Beard Blog

Weather applications are everywhere, and almost everyone has at least one installed on their cellphones. Apple is a solid weather application with each iPhone, but does not have certain features, allowing third -party developers to add their own innovations. In 2022, Apple introduced its own weather service,  weather, after obtaining a popular dark sky. This new service gives developers like I access to high quality weather data without high cost which is usually associated with weather fire.

Most weather applications offer paid features because they need to cover the cost of accessing weather data. Apple, however, provides a large amount of free weather requests as part of the annual developer subscription before the additional fees apply. I have become a long -cost carrot weather customer, but I recently realized that I only used a small part of the paid features. It took me to an idea: Why not build my own weather application?

My own personal weather application

After spending nine months of developing my first iOS application, Heepix, I want to apply my skills and experience to the type of new weather application. Just like Heepix, I initially made this application for myself, but I decided to share it with the world for free. My focus is to build the features that I use most often and present data in the way that I consume it.

Behind stupid

His name Stupid weather Comes from the idea that the application will be “stupid” in the sense that it will not include radar, insights driven by AI, or other advanced features. It will only display the weather without unnecessary additions. However, when I continue to do it, the application becomes more capable than time to time. Apart from this improvement, I remain committed to the original vision to keep it so that the weather application is direct without a trick.

Developing new applications

When I first planned Stupid weatherI have a series of clear features in my mind that I use every day on my iPhone and Apple Watch. However, Apple’s development ecosystem requires me to create iOS and Watchos applications to support my widgets and complications. This added a significant complexity to the development process, making it more challenging than my work at Heepix.

This project has become a great learning experience, encouraging me to explore more Apple weather offers and further perfect my development skills. The result is a lightweight but functional weather application that is designed for fast and easy access to important weather information.

Features and availability

One of the most useful features, which I have never seen in other weather applications, is the ability to quickly check when high and low temperatures for that day will occur. This is very helpful in places like Pittsburgh, where high temperatures can be misleading. For example, if the height for that day is estimated to be 60ºF but occurs at 1 am, and during the day only 40ºF, “height” does not accurately reflect the condition of the day. Stupid weather Helps clarify this fluctuation by displaying temperature trends in a practical way.

More stupid to come

Development Stupid weather It is going on, and I am happy to continue to improve and expand its features. My goal is to remain simple but effective, provide weather data without unnecessary interference.
